"...how I could just kill a man!"
I know what you're thinking. . .why are those lyrics leading off this post? I don't really know myself, but that song really comes to mind when I think of this weekend. Keep reading. . .you'll see what I'm talking about.
This whole week has been crazy, but I really have to admit that it all came to a huge climax last night. B-Real's Album release party was off the hinges (as expected). But first, we'll get into Friday...
The Game at Club Nokia. Hmmm... For the lack of a better description... That show was actually kinda boring. We scooped up the passes from Devi at 93.5 KDAY (thank you soo so much for the hook up girl, much appreciated) and headed down Wilshire straight into Downtown LA. We had a good handful of passes, so we started making calls to everyone we thought might wanna come through. My barber happened to be having dinner at a restaurant Downtown just a few blocks away from Staples Center, so he was there in no time. Mari from Lymelite Media made the drive all the way from Riverside to come hang out, and the other passes found their way into peoples hands quick enough. It was a good night, no doubt...But Game was really sick and losing his voice, so of course that affected the momentum of his set.
Saturday was very chill, until it came time to get started up. I finally got a chance to catch up on all the sleep I don't get during the week by taking a midday nap, and then it was time to get set to roll out to the pre-party at the studio. When I say pre-party, I don't mean like a million people ...it was really chill. Just a few to get going, but then we realized we were about 15 deep. One of the guys, Mackey was really excited to be out that night because tomorrow morning he leaves to Austrailia on tour with Mickey Avalon and Dirt Nasty. Good thing it was a family affair at the club. We were definitely on some fly shit while hundreds of people stood in line, we shook hands with the door man and Promoter and then walked right in. Now, I don't usually get into crazy detail about every little thing that goes on, but this night was just bananas!! As soon as we walked in it was a barrage of Soul Assassin fam. Good thing I rocked my SA gear...lol It was like a big ass westcoast reunion up in there. O Brown, Malverde, Mellow Man Ace, Evidence, Alchemist, Jay Turner, Lulu (BYI Ent), Flaco (wusss goood pimp!), Estevan Oriol, and even Crooked I. Of course the Cypress crew was in full effect. All the Audio Hustlaz, etc.. Weedsmoke central! Lol..There was a point in the night where Evidence, Alchemist, Crooked and myself were bullshittin watching B perform and Crooked mentioned that he "needs to hear some of that Cypress gangsta shit my nigga!!" And then boom, B calls up Sen and they rip right into "How I could just kill a man". Never in my life did I ever think I would be standing in the mixed company of these dudes and vibing out word for word to Cypress, trading bars with Crooked I. Mad crazy... No pics, last night wasn't for that. It was all fam,and there were enough photographers in there the last thing I needed was to join the ranks. Shouts to Segal (aka "I can't do patron tonight" hahaha)...we did it again pimp! I know you like that Jameson! Hahaha
Oooh and afterhours was just the shit. I had my homie Ish with me. He's a tattoo artist at Geespot Tattoo in NoHo, so it was a good opportunity for him to network with all these cats...he did his thing. Next is my sleeve hahaha. The homie Robert (leaving to NC soon, be safe) was supposed to be there, but didn't make it. His sister Yvette was there celebrating a friend's birthday, so she came and kicked it tho. Real cool to vibe with someone from the home crowd in the crowd of business acquaintences.
I love that the studio is right in the middle of it all. We finished off the night hanging out on the roof, and then in studio B for some chill mode...and then back on the roof before heading back home. That rooftop view (9 floors up) is really something. In one direction you've got West LA, the Hollywood & Highland complex and parts of The Hills, and in the other end you've got the South Bay, LAX, and the Downtown skyline. A great backdrop for the good company I shared. Now- back to the daily. Gotta hit the gym and steam out all these toxins.
Patron on ice in a champagne glass!!!!!! So disrespectful!!!!!!

Smoke N Mirrors, in stores this tuesday. Get that.
